Scully's Camera Dump

"I stole this from the big dog! Victory is MINE!"

This is the big dog she stole from, Skye. Pretty brave I'd say.

Justin entertaining the Sculls.

"That's right, I stole this!"

It's been a long day. Time for a nap.

Scully and Skye

Skye is Scully's new friend. More like, they pretend to be friends. Skye likes to put Scully's head in her mouth. Scully likes to growl at Skye as she walks by me.

I can't pet them at the same time. Bad things happen.

Scully is actually on a diet now. I know she weighs more than 7 lbs and she really needs to be in the 5-6 lbs mark. It doesn't help that Skye gets treats for every smart thing she does while Scully tries to get the attention of the person giving the treats, tap-dancing, saying "I'm smrt, see. I can sit!"

No doubt she's had one too many given to her by someone who shall remain nameless (it's not me OR Justin).

So we've swapped her treats for regular food. See, we still reward her, but just from her daily ration of food. Some would say that's mean, but I say no way. You learn to take it or leave it. She's having a hard time taking it.

As I am with this banana. It's my treat, and I need to eat it.

I shouldn't be so hard on her especially since I missed her birthday. I'm a terrible mom, I know. But she didn't know any different.

Almost 5 Years

Every year Scully surprises us with some new habit. And it's usually around her birthday. Her birthday is right around the corner and this year you'd never guess what her surprise is.

In the last post I told you how she escaped and somehow turned around and came back. Since living in Minnesota with the in-laws she's managed to stay in the yard. A yard with NO fence! What a miracle that she hasn't decided to bolt and run after someone on a bike or run after a squirrel in the neighbors yard! Can we say this is possibly a turning point in my soon-to-be 5-year-old? I'd like to think so.

Maybe having another dog around helps. Skye likes to think she bosses Scully around but they both have issues. Mostly Scully's issue is her head always ends up in Skye's mouth (I'm pretty sure it's outta love...for a toy they are fighting over). Skye chases bunnies and squirrels. Let's hope Scully doesn't pick up that habit. At least wait til she's 6 and got this "staying in the yard" habit down.

Just an FYI

Scully got out today. Justin and I just watched her trot up the street without a care. If you yell her name in a very stern voice (commanding...not like me at all), she'll stop, turn around and head back home. It worked. Thank heavens because I wasn't in the mood to go chasing her down.

Chasing her down like that dog's trying to do. He never did catch her.

The Good Life

Look at the life I lead.

Being lazy with my pig friend.

Oops, I wasn't supposed to show that picture. Scully is embarrassed by her smile. Silly girl!

This is the one she likes.

Going on fun road trips with a packed car.

Eating ice cream cone cookies!

Getting a back massage with a foot. (Disclosure: the dog in the photo enjoys back massages with feet, don't let the face fool you.)

Sitting pretty at the dog park.

Pretty good life eh?

1 year!? Really!?

I can't believe it's been one year since our last post! Wow, a lot has gone on in Scully's life. Let's do a quick run-down to catch us up to April of this year.

She went to Utah a few times.

Halloween was fun. She was a bat - black wings and all! She got to answer the door to hand out candy. Some kids did get scared but she just wanted to say hi. And while on our Thanksgiving cruise to Central America, we picked up her costume for this year. She's totally excited for it!

Scully had a good Christmas. She got some yummy baked treats, a new stuff toy and shirt from Justin's parent. She was spoiled!

She spent about a month at a doggy spa (aka Club Melancon) in California with Pepper and Bentley while Justin and I cruised around the world.

She forgave Bentley for shredding her bed the first day she was there. She was glad they weren't puppies anymore because now they are all grown-up friends.

Except she's clearly looking for an escape in this photo. But she came home happy and relieved to be an only child again.
